overview

During my time on the leadership team at AIGA Columbia, I had the honor of leading the creation of the event identity for Test Flight 2025, hosted by AIGA Chicago. Acting as the sole lead for this project, I developed a new visual identity that stood apart from previous years' concepts while adhering to the event’s purpose - a professional portfolio review.

The goal was to create visuals that have an inviting and playful tone to draw attendees and reviewers into the event. The project challenged me to be creative within limits, exploring new styles and mediums to create an identity that is appealing with the target audience. This opportunity allowed me to be experimental with my design, push boundaries, and deliver an identity that aligned with the event’s theme and objectives.

approach

I began by researching past concepts and analyzing AIGA’s social media identity to understand the visual language and tone of previous events. My team and I brainstormed nine unique concepts, refining them down to three strong directions to present to the client.

The overarching goal was to create a modern, playful, and youthful identity that stood out. We focused on visuals that were energetic and celebratory, emphasizing movement and progress to align with the “test flight” theme. The final design reflects this balance, which blends fun and professionalism while maintaining clarity and cohesion across all applications.

The final deliverables include social media posts, Instagram stories, Eventbrite & website image, email headers, posters, slides template, Zoom backgrounds, and an identity guide.
